BALLROOM

At the beginning of the 20th century many new dances developed, which were danced a little bit differently everywhere. Dance teachers came up with the idea of standardizing these dances so that they could be taught in the same way everywhere. This way they were danced the same way at tournaments and could be judged better. So there were own standards, which brought these dances also the name standard dances.

Today, standard dances or ballroom dances are mainly understood as these five dances: Slow Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slowfox and Quickstep. Of course, there are several other dances that are considered Ballroom Dances, such as Salsa, Swing, Line Dance or Flamenco and many more. The Tango even exists in two different variations. Because originally the Tango comes from Argentina and Uruguay. When it came to Europe, it was heavily modified. Therefore, today we speak of the Tango Argentino and the European Standard Tango. In recent years, however, Tango Argentino has become more popular and is taught more often in dance schools. Ballroom or Standard Dance has its own special charm for every age and every dance is something very special!
