TAP DANCE
Tap dance is a fascinating dance that originated in the USA. It originated from African rhythms of slaves and immigrant Irish and English. They created a completely new style of dance, in which small metal plates are attached under the soles of shoes, which produce sounds with each step. Thus, each dancer is also a percussion musician and sets the rhythm. Almost every emotion can be expressed by means of tap dance, like wordless little dialogues or even "duels", which the dancers have delivered to each other already in the 19th century.
Tap dance is sophisticated and today it is danced all over the world to any music. While in the beginning between 1900 - 1955 it was mainly swing or jazz music, today people also tap dance to hip-hop, Latin, pop or funk. Everything is allowed, as long as it is fun!
